Fabulous Fridays: Fa-la-la in Vinyl!
This fa-la-la festive season, if you happen to find yourself at our place, chances are you will be regaled with Christmas music via vinyl— the good old-fashioned way! The main reason being, Lyndon had a record player for his birthday, and it’s opened up a whole new (old) world for us all. Sorry kids 🙂
ADVENT AVALANCHE
So it snowed last night. A lot. Wet, heavy snow, you know the stuff that looks all fluffy and gorgeous on the branches… until the poor branch breaks under the weight of it (cue our tree!) With less than a month until Christmas Day, it got me wondering how I will fare under the weight of the fluff and gorgeousness of the season…
FAIRY WINGS
My big news… I finally have my very first picture book story up and running— let me introduce you to FAIRY WINGS! It’s a self-published, interactive, Kindle e-book available through Amazon. Know any 3-6 year-olds who might like a fairy story?
Saying YES to India!
So you may or may not know, but our tickets are booked, shots are next week, and we are eating curry regularly in preparation…. we are going to INDIA!
OK to be a PK
We are a special breed, us PK’s (Pastor’s Kids, in case you were wondering), but let’s be honest here— I have never, ever heard anyone say, “Man, I wish I was a PK!”…
A DISNEY THANKSGIVING
As it happens, we just celebrated our very first Canadian Thanksgiving as “real life” Canadians… in Disneyland, California— where it wasn’t actually Thanksgiving. But it’s all good, and we certainly found lots to be thankful for in the “happiest place on earth”!
MY NESTING PLACE
FINALLY, I have my very own “nesting place” where I can hide write, read, and get all creative— and much of my inspiration came from a lovely little book called… drum roll… The Nesting Place. With the motto “it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful”, and a recommendation from my fave inspirational writer Ann Voskamp, this was one book I had to check out:
CITIZENSHIP CHILLS
After living in the beautiful land of Canada for nearly twenty years, we will officially be CANADIAN CITIZENS tomorrow— and I get the chills just thinking about it! Our swearing in ceremony will make it all legit, and we will finally have dual citizenship. For real. This is a big deal, and I’m a little overcome by the whole thing.
WALKING THE DOG
Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that cause us to catch our breath in wonder— things like walking the dog. It’s not necessarily the actual dog causing the sense of awe (sorry Lily), but the unfeigned, honest act of the everyday mundane suddenly becoming meaningful.
GOODNESS & GREATNESS?
“Goodness makes greatness truly valuable, and greatness makes goodness much more serviceable.” Whatever am I talking about, you may ask? Well I found this fascinating quote today from Matthew Henry’s Commentary, and it’s whirling around in this little brain of mine, so I thought it only fair that I should spew my findings with you. You are welcome 🙂
