Writerly friends—this is what we’ve been waiting for… in-person writing conferences! And hope*writers are pulling out all the stops in November for their conference in North Carolina. Even the most introverted among us (ahem) are chomping at the bit in anticipation of gathering with like-minded creatives longing to balance the art of writing with the business of publishing. PLUS, I’m delighted to be one of the “breakout facilitators” as well as a certified hope*writers coach and can’t wait to meet with real-life writers! I’ll try not to gush too much, but here are the details:

Oh my, it’s going to be phenomenal:

• Powerful and inspiring speakers
• Panels of experts you won’t want to miss
• Breakout sessions covering a variety of excellent topics
• Time to connect with fellow writers and make lifelong friends
• Opportunities to mingle with editors and agents and coaches
• Shop for all the writing essentials(!)

My breakout session is “CREATE COMPELLING CHARACTERS IN FICTION”: As fiction writers, we want our characters to be utterly unforgettable, real and relatable for our readers, and enrich and enhance the plot of our story. Discover tools and tips for developing complex characters to take your work in progress to the next level! (I’m excited… are you excited?)

Other breakout sessions are on social media, newsletters, making time to write, knowing your ideal reader, show don’t tell, independent publishing, launching a book, agent query letters, and telling hard stories. We are basically covering ALL THE THINGS.

Also, you do NOT have to be a hope*writers member to come along to the conference. Although you’ll probably want to join once you see what all the fuss is about…

And if you can’t make it to North Carolina (I’m traveling again all the way from British Columbia—so worthwhile if you can swing it!) there is a live streaming option, so you can still join us online. In your pajamas even. Perfectly acceptable.
