The kitchen was not always my friend.

Within its walls, I travelled through stages of ignorance (I knew NOTHING about cooking as a newlywed), exasperation (I had no time or inclination to cook after a full day in work), exhaustion (that would be the toddler years), and then frustration (the picky eaters evolved).

But now I find myself actually enjoying and embracing the kitchen…

And to further enhance my lovefest, I’ve found the BEST cookbook ever! I don’t know how to express my excitement over a cookbook- this is definitely a first for me, but let’s just say that I bought the book 2 weeks ago and have already successfully made at least 12 recipes of deliciousness!

What is this bountiful book full of fantastic fare?

“THE LOONEYSPOONS COLLECTION” by Janet & Greta Podleski:  http://janetandgreta.com/cookbook/the-looneyspoons-collection/

What makes this yummy offering any different from the others?

It’s a perfect combo- one sister cooks, the other one writes. It’s choc-full of nutrition nuggets, recipe tips, trivial tidbits, enticing colorful photos, hysterical cartoons and witticisms, and the most inventive names for every recipe. Such as…

“The Roast of Christmas Past”, “Honey, I Shrunk My Thighs”, “Quiche Me, You Fool”, “My Yammy Spice”… I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Much giggling in the kitchen.

What do I personally love about The Looneyspoons Collection?

They have the “skinny” on skinny without compromising on exciting flavor. My menfolk have no idea these recipes are totally healthy!

The ingredients are completely “doable”- the Podleskis actually go to the supermarket to make sure everything listed can be bought there instead of traipsing around specialty stores.

These Canadian sisters have an amazing rags-to-riches story, which is enough to inspire all of us that anything is possible if you want it badly enough. Makes me wonder what kind of cookbook I could have conjured up with my 3 sisters! Scary! Anyway, this is their 4th cookbook, a revamp of earlier recipes as well as new creations, all with fully updated nutritional information. You can read their fascinating story here:

Honestly, I can’t rave enough right now about this cookbook! It was the best $20 I have ever spent at Costo. It has given me the jumpstart I needed into the coming year, which will no doubt be filled with many, many more recipes to die for! Let me know if you decide to join the Looneyspoons lovefest…

Have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend,
