“After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire, and after the fire came a gentle whisper.” I Kings 19 v.12

When the Lord appeared to Elijah, He manifested a power and tenderness that could only belong to the Almighty Creator. He caused mountains to split, earthquakes to rumble, and fire to fury. But then came “a gentle whisper”.

Sometimes we need reminding that we are dealing with an awesome, mighty God; One who can do absolutely anything with unimaginable power. He is our Savior- strong and supremely victorious. He conquered death, He’s Alpha and Omega, timeless and true. But God is also the lover of our souls- the patient One, the “gentle whisper”. His love cradles us, encourages, and speaks gently to our hearts. He is our everything.

Are you watching for the earthquake, or listening for the whisper? What does the Lord have to do to capture your attention? Sometimes we need to simply slow down in order to hear Him, but sometimes it takes a lightening bolt from above! Are you serious about living for Jesus? He was serious about dying for you. The amazing sacrifice He made in giving His own life to take the punishment for our sins is love in the highest, purest form. The lion and the lamb.

It’s the power and the whisper all in one.
