“For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.” Romans 6:9

“Jesus has overcome, and the grave is overwhelmed,The victory is won, He is risen from the dead…” (Chris Tomlin- “I Will Rise”)

This Easter weekend, we find ourselves thinking about death and life a little more than usual. Death is usually a touchy subject, a morbid aspect of our existence that we tend to put out of our minds as much as possible. It conjures up fear, thoughts of separation and pain; we simply avoid it and opt for filling up on life instead.

But Jesus soothes our fears in demonstrating His power and deepest love. He died “once for all”, so that we need not fear death. In Him, through His sacrifice, we are no longer doomed to isolation from the One who loves us most. The Son of God thwarted death, in all its darkness and finality. He rose again and reigns victorious for eternity! Can I hear a Hallelujah?!

This differentiates us from all other religions- our God is ALIVE! The grave simply could not hold Him. It was overwhelmed by the power of Jesus. The Father plowed ahead with His master plan for mankind, and Jesus is now seated at home, in Heaven, where He waits for His beloved. For us.

Death holds no fear for those who trust in the saving blood of the risen Lord Jesus. As the grave was overwhelmed by His power, we are overwhelmed by His love.

Happy, Blessed Easter!
