I’m absolutely delighted to share some exciting news—my Christmas novella, Snow Globe Secrets, just won a book award! In the 25th Annual Faith, Hope, & Love Christian Writers (FHLCW) Reader’s Choice Award, I won in the 2024 novella category! I’m grinning like the Cheshire Cat over here, and would love to thank some fabulous people for their part in this achievement…
“A bookstore, a snow globe, and a secret to die for…”
I’ve heard it said that the actual writing of a book is the easy bit, and while “easy” might be a stretch, there is certainly a lot more to getting a book into the hands of actual readers than penning a story. So, my heartfelt gratitude goes out to the following for their efforts in getting this particular book birthed and into the world, and then bestowing her with a lovely award:
- My publisher, Anaiah Press
- My editor, Kara Leigh Miller
- My critique partner, Blossom Turner
- My amazing book launch team
- Faith, Hope, & Love Christian Writers
- All those who have read Snow Globe Secrets
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” G.K. Chesterton
In case you’re not familiar, this novella is the stand-alone follow-up to The Christmas Cabin—which also won a book award the previous year, and both are part of my Flight to Freedom series, published by Anaiah Press. Here’s the back-page blurb on Snow Globe Secrets:
Shootings. Snow globes. Secrets.
When successful realtor, Alexis James, witnesses a shooting outside the bookstore in her hometown of Hollybrook, she soon realizes the perpetrator has unfinished business, and now she is caught in the crossfire.
Tom Harrington is a British, best-selling author who needs to honor a promise and find some answers in this Canadian winter wonderland—but trouble follows him across the ocean.
He read her like a book from the beginning…
As Alexis is swept up in a festive whirlwind of danger and love, Tom attempts to break through her ice queen persona. But when chilling walls close in, they both have to decide: can they share their truth, rekindle their faith, and risk their lives if they have any hope for a Happily Ever After?
I don’t take the publishing of my books for granted and am constantly humbled by the kindness of readers and encouragers along the way—you have no idea how much your support means to this author!
As I prepare for my August launch of Captured in Frame, my next novel in a brand-new series set in England, I do so prayerfully and with a heart full of gratitude. I truly have to pinch myself sometimes as I get to do my dream job (even if it took me decades to get my pencil sharpened and my brave on!)—and receiving an award like this one for Snow Globe Secrets is a reminder that my words matter because I am doing what I believe God wants me to do, at the exact right time, for each specific reader… hopefully, including you, friend!
I’ll leave you with the Scripture verses I quote at the beginning of this little novella:
“God, investigate my life;
get all the facts firsthand.
I’m an open book to you;
even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
You know when I leave and when I get back;
I’m never out of your sight.”
Psalm139:1-3 (MSG)
Until next time,
P.S. UPDATED NEWS: Snow Globe Secrets has also been shortlisted for The Word Awards in the novella/ short story category!
P.P.S. If you haven’t read Snow Globe Secrets, my publisher currently has a “Christmas in July” promotion happening for the whole month of July, and this novella and her sister (The Christmas Cabin) are both just 99cents each for the ebooks on Amazon! Book links are HERE!
