Who doesn’t need a daily dose of encouragement with their morning coffee? Whether you are a deep-dive-give-me-the-Bible-study girl or more of a grab-five-meaningful-minutes-before-the-crazy-begins lady, I have four NEW Bible devotional books for you to peruse. And I think there might just be something fabulous for everyone here…
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
My word for 2021 is LIGHT (you can read all about it HERE) and that includes “reading light”; being nourished, growing, and seeking wisdom through spending time in my Bible. I’ll admit, it’s often a struggle and I have to be careful not to make it just another item on my daily to-do list. I find it helpful to use a devotional book and then journal my thoughts (because seriously if I don’t write all the things down they are gone in a flash!) I like to mix it up and enjoy studies from SHE READS TRUTH but recently I’ve discovered four very different new devotional books I would love to share with you.
I’ve included my Amazon affiliate links in case you want to grab a copy (full disclosure here) which means I get a tiny commission while you pay the regular price for any of the books, but let’s get to it:
A PATH TO REDEEMING LOVE by Francine Rivers
“This forty-day devotional based on the classic bestselling novel Redeeming Love leads you on a personal, six-week journey into God’s all-consuming embrace.” Redeeming Love, a historical fiction book based on the Biblical account of Hosea, is one of my all-time favorites (I now have it on my list to re-read!), and this 6-week devotional weaves snippets of the story with Scripture verses and personal essays from Francine Rivers. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed journaling alongside each daily reflection on themes of rejection, resignation, rescue, redemption, reconciliation, and restoration. A beautiful reminder of God’s unconditional love for us.

THE BEAUTY OF AN UNCLUTTERED SOUL by Carla Gasser
“Allowing God’s Spirit to Transform You from the Inside Out” This gorgeous illustrated 90-day devotional takes us through the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5: 22-23) as we seek to declutter our souls and enjoy peace and purpose. In this in-depth study, Carla encourages the reader to dig deep in Scripture and gives practical application for each of the nine attributes. I love that she suggests taking it slowly, one “fruit” for every week to consider and take root. This is a book I will come back to time and again for reference and encouragement. And it also makes a lovely gift!

ALL THE TIME by Meredith Barnes
“Daily Devotions Finding Faith in the Everyday Moments” Asks the question: “What if we could see our relationship with time from God’s perspective and celebrate it as a gift?” This debut devotional by a talented writer and young mom of three boys comes out March 1… but you can get in on the action now and pre-order! I received an advanced reader copy and it’s a delight. Each of the fifty-plus devos is a short read with her personal essays and reflections on a Scripture, followed by some thought-provoking questions to ponder or journal. You’ll want to be Meredith’s real-life friend as you enjoy these short, honest reflections on time—how we use it, seasons of life, God’s timing, and the gift it can be.

Perhaps one of these is a good fit for you right now or perhaps you think one might be the perfect gift for a friend or family member. Regardless, I hope we’ll all be drawn to dig into the Word of God regularly and be challenged, encouraged, and grow deeper in our knowledge and love for the One who is there for us always.
“Nobody ever outgrows Scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years.” Charles Spurgeon
Happy reading!
